Janus Introductory Series

The Intro Series, provides a solid overview of most of BDSM. The series is a survey of the play techniques and forms within broad categories of BDSM play, with programs including Dominance and Submission, Bondage, Impact Play, Medical and Electrical Play, Sex and Sensation Play, Psychological Play and a class dealing with Emotional Aspects of Play. The Series also includes a "lab" in the form of a Sampler Night, where multiple stations are provided for interested individuals to receive samples of various play techniques.

Every class is accessible to beginners, and assumes no prior knowledge. The classes are also suitable to intermediate and advanced players who want to fill gaps in their knowledge, or to get a new perspective. Whereas other classes teach a specific technique, these classes cover and compare the techniques across a whole range of play, providing a foundation to the area, rather than specific training in any one technique.

These programs are open to anyone over 18 years of age with a sincere, positive interest in BDSM. RSVPs are not required.

1 to 4 pm,  Doors open at 12:00 - (Except Sampler Night: 7:30)

These classes are Open events, open to both Janus members($5) and non-members($15) alike.

Currently all the Introductory Series classes are being held at the SF Citadel at 1277 Mission Street in San Francisco.

  • The Janus Sampler Night is a simple concept yielding powerful results. Janus assembles a selection of people with expertise in various aspects of BDSM play and brings them together. There will be "Demo Stations" around the dungeon where these players will demonstrate their skills and, more importantly, give you the chance to experience these different kinds of play in a safe, non-threatening way..
  • There is no substitute for actual first hand knowledge, and this way you can try a wide variety of BDSM sensations with the knowledge that it's being done by experienced people who have no goals other than to help enlighten.
  • This can be especially helpful to Tops who are new to BDSM. Most people agree that in order to be a good top it is helpful if you have had some first hand experience in getting the sensations that you are giving. Sampler night offers the top the chance to feel what a flogging is like, to experience needles or electrostim, etc., in a purely educational forum.
  • While most Janus classes delve deep into one specific area of expertise, the Sampler night is great to gain not only experience, but to survey the wide realm of BDSM practices. For beginners it's an ideal learning experience, and for the seasoned players, it's a chance to be inspired and reinvigorate your play by remembering the variety we have at our disposal.
